Petition Action

Make it compulsory to check every complaint against a police officer every year.

Petition Details

I want police officers to be checked annually for any complaints made against them. Because of recent news I think it is necessary to take complaints against people that are supposed to protect us more seriously.

Additional Information

I want the Government or Parliament to help because in less than a year there has been two instances of police officers breaking the law and committing very serious crimes. This is something that has to be looked into and taken extremely seriously.

This petition was rejected

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:

Petitions need to call on the Government or Parliament to take a specific action.

We understand that you are concerned about propriety in the police, but we're not sure exactly what you'd like the Government or Parliament to do.

There are already procedures in place for people to complain about the police, and it's not clear how you want these to be changed.

You can find out more about how to complain about the police here: www.policeconduct.gov.uk/complaints-reviews-and-appeals/make-complaint
