Allow any person to refuse to have a Digital ID without penalties.
Enshrine in law an individual’s right not to take part in any Digital ID system. Along with the right to have their data removed at any time, without question, cost, legal intervention or lengthy process from any such system, either Government run or otherwise. Ensure they are not penalised at all.
Digital IDs are at odds with democratic values. They could pose a danger to individuals exercising their rights to object or freely express their views. This is apparent with cancelation and control of speech on social media sites.
You can't sign this petition because it was rejected. But you can still comment on it here at Repetition.me!
The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:
The UK Government is not responsible for the ID logins of private companies.
People already have the right to have their personal data deleted in certain circumstances. You can find out more here: ico.org.uk/for-the-public/your-right-to-get-your-data-deleted
You could start a new petition calling for the Government to ban any government related services from requiring a digital ID, if that's something that you'd like to see.
