Petition Action

NMC to reduce the required Ielts and OET scores with 0.1, 0.2 and 0.3 points.

Petition Details

NMC to accept narrowly missed sub-tests with 0.1, 0.2 and 0.3 points for the Listening, Reading and Speaking sub-tests in OET and Ielts. The Writing sub-test grade to remain unchanged.
NMC must accept grades near to 7 or B to demonstrate their flexibility.

Additional Information

The Government should not allow the European nurses to be denied just because they are narrowly missing their exams over and over again for years. NMC know that time is nothing for the European nurses who are already living in the UK for years, already struggling to obtain 7 or B in the first 3 sub-tests. These exams are massively difficult.
NMC to accept narrowly missed exams for the nurses who are already here in the UK, who are working in the healthcare system.

This petition was rejected

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:

We can only accept petitions about things the Government or Parliament are directly responsible for.

Decisions about the English language requirements for registering as a nurse are a matter for the Nursing and Midwifery Council, not the UK Government or Parliament.
