Reintroduce "Keep Britain Tidy Campaign"
Make it obligatory for local authorities and national agencies to work together to clear all major motorways and dual carriageways of litter. Increase fines for drivers and their passengers littering from cars.
I'm fed up, as I'm sure others are, of living in a country that normalises gross littering. There's not a highway in the country clear of this mountain of rubbish. The country is drowning in litter. It gives the impression that we don't care about our environment. In these days of highlighting plastics water, we also need to highlight plastics along our roads.

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:
Petitions need to call on the Government or Parliament to take a specific action.
We understand that you're concerned about littering on public roads, but we're not sure exactly what you'd like the Government or Parliament to do.
National Highways are responsible for litter collection on
motorways and some trunk roads. Local authorities manage litter collection on the rest of the roads in England. It's not clear what changes you want to be made to the responsibility of National Highways and local authorities in respect of litter collection.
We could accept a petition calling for the Government to increase fines people littering on public roads. We could also accept a petition calling on the Government to provide additional funding for litter collection on roads in England.
