Take action to combat wildlife crime
Wildlife crime is on the increase with the number of deliberate acts of cruelty, such as catapulting, escalating and it isn’t being taken seriously. Government and the Police must take further action to tackle this endemic behaviour and invest in protecting our wildlife.
The charity Swan Support see many birds murdered in this painful & unnecessary way. When crimes against wildlife are reported processes/resources should be in place to make sure they are investigated fully/consistently and that those who commit such crimes are punished accordingly. Ensuring appropriate signage & more visible policing would serve as a deterrent resulting in fewer attacks on wildlife. Also those who commit such crimes tend to escalate so leaning in will help reduce crime overall.

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:
Petitions need to call on the Government or Parliament to take a specific action.
We understand that you are concerned about crime relating to wildlife, but we're not sure exactly what you'd like the Government or Parliament to do.
We can only accept petitions about things the Government or Parliament are directly responsible for. Decisions about policing, including how to investigate reports of crimes, are a matter for individual polices forces.
If there is an action you would like the Government to take you could start a new petition explaining clearly what you would like the Government or Parliament to do.
