Effective Standards Commission

Additional Information

After a 14-month investigation Parliament’s Standards Commissioner, said that the Culture Secretary, Maria Millier, should hand back £45,000 in overclaimed accommodation allowances for a home in Wimbledon, South London.
However MPs on the Commons standards committee over-ruled the commissioner and said Mrs Miller would have to repay only £5,800.
This must stop. MP’s MUST NOT be allowed to sit in judgment of other MP’s. A proper effective Standards Commission, totally independent, must ensure that their recommendations are carried out.
