VAT on food and non-alcoholic drinks sold in the catering industry should be 10%
VAT for all food products and soft drinks sold in any cafe, restaurant, bar, or pub should be reduced to 10%.
Currently businesses in the food and beverage sector are facing serious cost increases across the board from food, to utility bills to staff wages. Current economic conditions will mean many independent business will have to close. Reducing the VAT rate will not only save businesses, but allow the money to be reallocated towards hiring more staff and reducing prices for consumers. This will help ease rapid inflation whilst boosting the economy and saving local businesses.
