To make the minimum wage equal for all ages and to demolish age discrimination.
I would like the government to change the minimum wage so that it is equal for all ages and that pay focuses on experience, skills and a persons qualifications rather than their age. I believe that discrimination against people’s age takes place due to the minimum wage laws only focusing on age.
I would like the government to change the minimum wage from being £4.81 for under 18’s, £6.83 for 18-20 year olds, £9.18 for 21-22 year olds and £9.50 for people aged 23 years and over (National Minimum wage, 2023) to the minimum wage being all one price for all ages or should focus and concentrate on a person’s experience, skills and qualifications rather than there age.
