Petition Action

Bring forward plans to offer 15 to 30 hours childcare for 1 & 2 year olds.

Petition Details

Parents of 1 & 2 year olds will have to wait another 1 - 2.5 years to benefit from any of the changes. This will not offer added benefit to any children already in childcare. Only children who are not born. I would urge the Chancellor to bring forward the help towards childcare costs immediately.

Additional Information

"Working parents of 2-year-olds will be able to access 15 hours of free care from April 2024...From September 2024, that 15 hours will be extended to all children from 9 months up... And from September 2025...working parent[s] of under 5s will have access to 30 hours free childcare per week."

Jeremy Hunt's offer to extend childcare hours from April 2024 does not benefit anyone in this tax year, or Cost of Living crisis. It is also dependent on the election. Parents are struggling right now.
