Bring forward start of childcare for children over 9 months old.
To start the new funded hours of childcare to September 2023. To ensure working families have the chance to be able to afford the significant cost of living. If the government task is to increase workforce and economic productivity then it needs to support childcare now.
I would like the government to show now its wish to create economic activity and help women now with child care.
Although the government says its needs time to increase capacity it already has the infrastructure in place to pay nurseries. I propose 15 hours for all eligible family's of 9 month olds from 1st September 2023 and increase the amount paid to nursery's.
This also gives nursery's time to decide if they can offer it or not.
I would then suggest that 30 hours is offered from April 2024.
