Petition Action

Enforce the law on lane hogging!

Petition Details

Get the police to enforce the lane hogging law and start prosecuting, fining and issuing penalty points those that do.

Additional Information

Many traffic jams and accidents could be avoided if the roads were used in the correct manner. People that stay in the overtaking lanes reduce the motorways etc to single lane carriageways at times, causing massive tailbacks, more pollution and more cost to the tax payer, shopper and businesses as well as unnecessary time on journeys.

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:

We can only accept petitions about things the Government or Parliament are directly responsible for.

Enforcement of road traffic offences is an operational matter for the police, not the UK Government or Parliament.

We have published the following petition, which you might like to sign:

Provide funding for additional policing of road traffic offences: petition.parliament.uk/petitions/627151
