Ban jeering, cheering and booing by MPs in the House of Commons
Members of the Parliament frequently jeer, cheer and boo, and generally cause nuisance, particularly during Prime Minister's Question Time. MPs should only be allowed to speak when called on by the Speaker, and should remain silent otherwise.
This behaviour is unprofessional and would be unacceptable in many other workplaces. It wastes time during the session, and makes it difficult for the public listening to follow discussion. Importantly, we believe it treats the general public with contempt; a significant lack of respect is shown to the seriousness of topics discussed.
For example, on 22/03/2023, there was jeering while discussing crime, violent crime and burglary conviction rates.
