Repeal the Endowments and Glebe Measures 1976 , return Glebe income to parishes
Debate the 1976 act and it’s impact on rural parishes and enable the return of income from Glebe lands to rural parishes.
The Church of England seems not to be enacting the statute of using all Glebe monies to pay for clergy and provide clergy in rural parishes. It is undertaking the amalgamation of rural parishes into huge areas to the extent that rural churches are closing, impacting rural parishes severely. Once a parish is amalgamated the congregation is no longer able to meet locally and support the range of activities provided by the church, Support and congregations fade and churches close.

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:
We can only accept petitions about things the Government or Parliament are directly responsible for.
Decisions about the internal affairs of the Church of England, including the introduction of legal measures relating to these, are a matter for the Church of England. By convention, Parliament does not legislate for the internal affairs of the Church of England without its consent.
