Immediately pause all school inspections pending an independent review
Launch an independent review into the best way of delivering quality assurance for schools and effective safeguarding of children, and pending the outcome of this review halt all school inspections.
Ofsted inspection of schools is intended to drive school improvement. In fact, high stakes accountability, single word ratings, lack of a proper appeals process, changing criteria, apparent inconsistency, 'limiting judgements' and an approach which seems to care little for the wellbeing of staff or children means they can cause immense harm. There must be a better way.
