Extend exemptions from ULEZ and congestion charges to qualifying charities.
We ask the government to require the Mayor of London to extend or create an exemption from both ULEZ ( both current and proposed extension) and Congestion charges to registered charities that respond to emergency assistance as part of crisis calls for humans and/or animals.
There are registered charities who currently fulfil a significant role in crisis and emergency response, often called upon by police, LAS, local authorities mental health & domestic violence teams.
Under current terms of ULEZ and congestion charges, such charities are charged per vehicle, if they have to enter the chargeable zones. For charities to replace vehicles with compliant vehicles is a significant financial burden. As front line responders, they should be exempt as am emergency service.
