The Government need to change the rules governing Local Housing Allowance rates
The Local Housing Allowance rates for each area across the whole of the UK need to be reviewed to reflect the private rental situation now. There are way too many vulnerable people with disabilities and even pensioners loosing their homes because LHA rates are way too low.
There is an urgent need for more social housing across the entire Uk. Just like what happened back in the 1950s after the war. The government need to provide these homes and take back control to stop private landlords charging excessive rents.

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:
There's already a petition about this issue. We cannot accept a new petition when we already have one about a very similar issue.
You are more likely to get action on this issue if you sign and share a single petition.
We have published the following petitions, which you might like to sign:
Require Local Housing Allowance rates be increased in line with inflation: petition.parliament.uk/petitions/636623
Cap yearly rent increases for private tenants to average increase in pay: petition.parliament.uk/petitions/635142
Your petition also calls for action to increase the availability of social housing and tackle excess rent, but we're not sure exactly what you'd like the Government or Parliament to do to achieve this. You could start a new petition explaining clearly what you would like the Government or Parliament to do.
