Petition Action

Challenge the Local Authorities' policy on booking public buildings

Petition Details

Review access to public venues. Hampshire and Dorset have changed public hire rules, preventing local groups from returning to venues used before the pandemic.

Additional Information

We have tried unsuccessfully to gain the interest of local councils - Winchester who have made some small concessions ignored 3 requests for e-Petitions and Bournemouth who have refused to meet and both have demonstrated intransigence in their responses.

This petition was rejected

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:

We can only accept petitions about things the Government or Parliament are directly responsible for.

Decisions about the use of local authority buildings are a matter for individual local authorities, not the UK Government or Parliament.

You could raise your issue with a local councillor who represents you. You can find out who your local councillors are, and how to contact them, by entering your post code here: www.gov.uk/find-your-local-councillors
