petition the Government to force councils and highways to repair roads.
Legislate so as to force repairs on roads to a safe standard before people are killed.
The government hold the pursestrings so would have the powers needed.
You can't sign this petition because it was rejected. But you can still comment on it here at Repetition.me!
The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:
Petitions need to call on the Government or Parliament to take a specific action.
We understand that you are concerned about road maintenance, but we're not sure exactly what you'd like the Government or Parliament to do.
The Highways Act 1980 already creates legal requirements for highway authorities, to maintain highways for which they are responsible.
If there is something else you would like the Government to do you could start a new petition explaining clearly what you would like the Government or Parliament to do.
We have published the following petitions, which you might like to sign:
Increase funding for the repair and resurfacing of roads: petition.parliament.uk/petitions/634995
Introduce new law requiring 'hazardous potholes' be identified and repaired: petition.parliament.uk/petitions/637420
