Housing benefit needs to increase due to increase of rent prices nearly doubling
With the cost of living rising, many people are struggling to pay for basic necessities like housing. Increasing housing benefit is crucial to ensure everyone has access to safe, affordable housing Landlords are unhappy to accept rent for houses because the benefit doesn’t cover the full amount
In the Southside of glasgow the average 3 bedroom house is priced between £800 and £900 pcm, housing benefit(HB) gives £750 which is a large amount unfortunately that is not enough for landlords. In East Kilbride you would receive £625 a 3 bedroom costs between £800 to £1000 pcm I have personally been rejected from over 30 houses in 8 months the council are unable to help the private sector is unable to help shared equity housing is unable to help something needs to be done
