Petition Action

Change the education system so that it serves all children & particularly SEND

Petition Details

The current education system in England is not fit for purpose. The race to standardisation & academisation has led to a mainstream education system that many children are unable to access and within which many teachers no longer enjoy teaching. Inclusive and accessible education for all is a must.

Additional Information

Current practices and pressures emanating from the Dept for Education, and filtering down through the system, demand a one size fits all approach, shrouded in the guise of every child matters.

Many SEND children, parents and teachers are at the end of their individual and collective tethers.

Accessing appropriate education for a SEND child has become a battleground. Parents and children pitted against teaching staff, schools and LEAs.

Systemic change is required, this would benefit all.

This petition was rejected

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:

Petitions need to call on the Government or Parliament to take a specific action.

We understand that you are concerned about the current education system, but we're not sure exactly what you'd like the Government or Parliament to do.

You could start a new petition explaining clearly what you would like the Government or Parliament to do.

We have published the following petitions, which you might like to sign:
