Commit to crack down on illicit e-cigarettes without punishing ex-smokers...

Petition Details

Today Number 10 announced a plan to introduce a new "illicit vape enforcement squad". Credit where it is due!

Selling e-cigs to under 18s MUST END.

However, there have been MPs voicing that "The UK must quit its vaping habit", and favouring a "full ban".

This will jeopardise health.

Additional Information

Vaping has been backed by Public Health England as "95% less harmful than smoking".

Two things can be true at the same time - e-cigs help millions of ex-smokers AND e-cigs should not be sold, advertised or offered to children.

Mps have said publicly that they favour a full ban, without considering that will push many back into the hands of the tobacco giants.

The government must commit to not banning safe and regulated products to adults due to rogue traders who target children.

This petition was rejected

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:

Petitions need to call on the Government or Parliament to take a specific action.

The Government has announced plans to tackle illegal selling of vapes, but has not announced any plans to ban the sale of vapes, so we're not sure exactly what you'd like the Government or Parliament to do.

You could start a new petition explaining clearly what you would like the Government or Parliament to do.
