Ban the sale of expirable gift vouchers in the UK.
Ban the sale of gift card/vouchers with expirys, inparticular gift cards that hold a currency value and experience vouchers.
The gift card/voucher should represent a liability owed by the company to the consumer until that gift card/voucher is used.
Expirable vouchers provide no benefit to the consumer, when the voucher expires the company profits at minimal cost to themselves and at a great inconvinience to the consumer.
There is no need for gift cards / vouchers to expire and the value they represent should remain the same as they were purchased until they are used. If they remain unused that gift card/voucher should be considered a liability by the company to the consumer.
