To give the purchasers of digital software and licence keys better consumer protection
With the rise in sales of digital items such as apps, games, movies and movies we ask that the government changes current consumer law to have these digital items, licences and keys given similar ownership rights as physical items.
If a digital item is sold for a one time fee, as opposed to a subscription or rental service, the seller is required to;
- Provide the purchaser with either continual access to the digital item on their servers OR the facility to download a copy and the means with which to use it without being reliant on services provided by the seller.
-To not revoke or restrict the purchaser's access to and usage of this digital item for any reason unrelated to the purchase of that specific item.
- If the seller fails to provide the above the purchaser is entitled to a full refund of the purchase price
