This petition was rejected

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:

Petitions need to call on the Government or Parliament to take a specific action.

We're not sure if you want the Government to hold a referendum on the introduction of a digital currency, or legislation regarding the use of cash.

The Government has been clear that any digital currency would sit alongside, not replace, cash, and there are no plans for cash to be replaced.

You could start a new petition explaining clearly what you would like the Government or Parliament to do.

We have published the following petition, which you might like to sign:

Disband CBDC Taskforce & commit to not introducing Central Bank Digital Currency: petition.parliament.uk/petitions/637859
