Do not allow HMRC to share data
It's been revealed that ministers within HMRC are considering sharing taxpayer information with private firms, supposedly anonymously, removing current restrictions and checks and balances in order to do so.
History tells us that the scheme would fail to protect confidentiality. As taxpayers are required by law to share their information with HMRC, it's impossible for a taxpayer to opt out of such a scheme.
We the undersigned direct the government to halt these plans immediately and to prevent any further waste of government money examining this non-starter of an idea.
