Petition Action

Remove the requirement for nurses to do Revalidation every 3 years.

Petition Details

Scrap the revalidation process. It is an exercise that proves nothing but wastes time and money.

Additional Information

As more and more nurses are looking towards retirement, it's always the prospect of going through revalidation that sets the time when nurses leave. With all the stresses nurses have this is certainly one that is unnecessary and nothing more than a paperwork exercise. That alone should be sufficient but surely the time and cost wasted on this process would be better allocated elsewhere.

This petition was rejected

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:

We can only accept petitions about things the Government or Parliament are directly responsible for.

As the independent regulator of nurses and midwives in the United Kingdom and nursing associates in England, the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) - not the Government or Parliament - is responsible for nurse revalidation.
