Change the food provided in police cells to accommodate those with difficulties

Petition Details

I would like the goverment to offer fruits and healthy foods to citizens placed in police cells to ensure we are accommodating for those with medical conditions instead of leaving them to starve without food

Additional Information

By offering healthy foods such as fruits and fresh made food, not microwave food, you are catering for those with difficulties, catering so you can comply with doctors recommendations, looking out for citizens welfare and ensuring we don't discriminate

This petition was rejected

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:

The Government's code of practice on the detention of persons by police officers makes it clear that where necessary advice shall be sought from the appropriate healthcare professional on medical and dietary matters, and that as far as practicable, meals provided shall offer a varied diet and meet any specific dietary needs or religious beliefs the detainee may have: assets.publishing.service.gov.uk/government/uploads/system/uploads/attachment_data/file/903473/pace-code-c-2019.pdf

If you believe the police have failed to meet this standard you can complain about this. You can find out how to complain to the police here: www.policeconduct.gov.uk/complaints-reviews-and-appeals/make-complaint
