Our major political parties should work together on climate change
We urge all major UK parties to work together on climate change, the most important issue facing us all, and to adhere to the Government’s UK Net Zero strategy
The outcome of the Uxbridge by election, and the idea that this became a local referendum on ULEZ and other green measures, risks a race to the bottom by Labour and Conservative parties, falling over themselves to scrap pledges on climate change. They may perceive this as an easy way to buy some votes, but this approach would tarnish the UK’s international reputation as a climate leader. It would also be disastrous for the UK businesses who are now committed to delivering on this target

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:
Petitions need to call on the Government or Parliament to take a specific action, and we're not sure exactly what you'd like the Government or Parliament to do.
You could start a new petition explaining clearly what you would like the Government or Parliament to do. For example, we could accept a petition calling on the Government to create a cross-party body to agree plans to achieve Net Zero, if that's something you'd like to happen.
