Immediately reduce the cost of vehicle insurance.
The government must intervene to reduce the high rate of car insurance in 2023. Many drivers are unable to afford new policies, some as high as 50% more than in 2022. This will lead to more driving without insurance just to get to work, go shopping etc.
The fact that the Government doesn't have it's own vehicle insurance for citizens, and losing out on that cash, means the private sector is overcharging as they see fit. This is leading to an inability for many citizens to pay for insurance, a legal requirement.

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:
We can only accept petitions about things the Government or Parliament are directly responsible for.
Decisions about car insurance prices are a matter for individual insurers, not the UK Government or Parliament. It's not clear what action you would like the Government to take to reduce the cost of car insurance.
You could start a petition calling for the Government to begin offering its own system of vehicle insurance, capping the costs, if this is something you would like to see.
