tax on bonuses to be seperate to income tax
Currently bonuses are added onto earnings and taxed at the appropriate level.
This means for junior or lesser paid individuals who receive small bonuses or in companies where bonuses are only small, the amount of tax and NI being paid by each individual outweighs the value of the actual bonus being paid.
We would like bonuses to be taxed in the same manner as dividends for shareholders, or to have their own tax banding system applied, allowing lesser bonuses to be paid in a more tax efficient manner and have the impact of morale and motivation that they are designed to create.
