Regulate types of parking machines for which local authorities are responsible
Instruct local authorities to ensure that all public parking machines which they control enable on-the-spot cash and/or card payment to provide alternatives to phone or App payment. Currently, some authorities are removing cash and card facilities.
Current local authority policies are effectively obliging car owners to carry a mobile phone at all times and not to forget to do so. It should be possible to park a car without having to use an App or having to make a phone call to a call centre where there may be delays. Current systems which offer cash and/or card options are customer friendly and quick and easy to use.
