Put an End to Developers Destroying our History & Heritage in England Forever

Petition Details

I propose the integration of a permanent, restrictive covenant, which means that if a building is destroyed or burned down, it can only be replaced with the same building again.

This covenant should never be allowed to be altered or changed, in order to protect the building or site forever.

Additional Information

This covenant, applied to a range of sites, including listed and locally listed buildings, Assets of Community Value, scheduled sites and monuments, ancient monuments, archaeological areas, battlefields, UNESCO sites, English Heritage sites, and National Trust sites, will establish a profound deterrent against developers wanting the land to build on.

The only thing that should be allowed is a change of use for a building, to keep up with changing times and to keep the building in use.

This petition was rejected

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:

Petitions need to call on the Government or Parliament to take a specific action.

We're not sure exactly what you'd like the Government or Parliament to do.

We may be able to accept a petition calling for legislation to prevent planning permission being granted for anything but a direct replacement for certain types of building, if these are destroyed.

You could start a new petition explaining clearly what you would like the Government or Parliament to do.
