Require planning permission for hotels to be used as hostels for asylum seekers.
To ensure notification and consultation to inform residents and business with change of use. Standish village, Wigan, already accommodates 200 Asylum seekers in a hotel. Without widespread communication a further hotel, on the outskirts has been designated to house more asylum seekers.
This is a hotel of significant local heritage, in an area of natural beauty, we have been advised the decision is made and there is no reversal. As with any impact on community, land or property use, the locals should have the opportunity to review and be informed and included in any decision. There is no bus route, shops or other amenities and it will not benefit anyone. Our MPs have no voice to the Home Office and this is not fair.
