Make male infant circumcision illegal unless for medical reasons

Petition Details

Male infant circumcision is irreversible and causes permanent damage which results in lifelong changes in sexual function throughout adulthood. It is a violation of the right to bodily autonomy and in most cases has no tangible medical benefit. His body, his choice.

Additional Information

We want the Government to make male infant circumcision (unless needed for medical reasons) illegal.

We believe all religious defences of the practice should be rejected as the right of the child to choose their own body modifications when a consenting adult should take priority to the right of others to impose irreversible surgery, which is often done for religious reasons, on them when they cannot consent and when they may not want it as an adult.
