Exclude the state pension from inclusion in the annual tax free allowance.
Class the state pension as a non taxable benefit and excluded it from inclusion in the tax free allowance
The current basic tax free allowance is
£12, 570.
The basic state pension is £10, 600.20
The state pension is not taxed but it does go towards your tax free allowance so technically it is..
I would like to see the state pension classed as a non taxable benefit and excluded from inclusion in the tax free allowance.. In other words increasing the tax free allowance for pensioners from £12,570 to £23,126. This would go a long way to helping retirees cope with inflation.
