Free prescriptions for everyone with long-term or chronic health conditions
Extend free prescriptions to everyone in England with chronic or long-term health conditions like Parkinson's disease, Asthma, COPD, IBS etc. These conditions can start at any age and medications are lifelines for sufferers. Providing free prescriptions would help ensure access to medication.
People in England have to pay for their medications unless they are exempt from prescription charge. People who suffer from long-term or chronic health conditions with no known cure like Parkinson's disease, asthma, COPD etc are not included in prescription exemptions list, which means sufferers must pay for prescriptions for their medication. There are some long term avoidable conditions that do qualify you as exempt such as diabetes.
