Ensure schools allow pupils to wear appropriate clothing during hot weather.
Legislate to ensure that schools allow pupils to wear weather-appropriate clothing, particularly in summer/hot weather.
The weather is getting hotter. Children should not be forced to wear blazers, long trousers, collared tops and ties in hot weather and heatwaves.
Inappropriate clothing during our ever-hotter summers and early autumns presents a serious child health hazard, impacts on school enjoyment and attendance, prevents children from feeling safe and comfortable to learn, and seems unnecessarily cruel.
Show respect and compassion for all of our children and young people, and help to support their wellbeing, comfort & attendance by legislating for schools to allow pupils to wear clothing appropriate for the hot weather.
