Implement policy to improve dog breeding and responsible ownership in the UK.
1) Mandatory breeding qualification
2) Licensing dog ownership
3) Ban all databases and social media that sell dogs online
4) Centralised database regulated by the government regulated body
1) This would make sure breeders adhere to a standard
2) Passing a test prior to dog ownership may provide an opportunity for the individual to identify if buying a dog is right for them
3) Less access to potentially compromising breeders
4) One government regulated organisation could manage the database to help improve standards of dog breeding.
I don’t believe the dog is ever at fault, as the genetics and training methods are chosen and dictated by the caregiver.
