Make First Aid & Mental Health 1st Aid mandatory in schools & further education
I would like Parliament to make an Act stating that it is compulsory for First Aid (including Mental Health First Aid) to be taught in schools, sixth forms and colleges.
First Aid is essential. There have been several instances where lives have been saved, & time has been bought in between emergency service arrival due to the use of CPR & other First Aid protocol. In addition to this, knife crime is a prevalent issue & it would be useful for young people everywhere to know what to do in these situations, such as preventing further/maximal blood loss. Also there is a mental health epidemic, thus equipping young people with the skills to aid the mentally ill & suffering is needed.
You can't sign this petition because it was rejected. But you can still comment on it here at Repetition.me!
The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:
First Aid is already taught in schools - further information is available in this guidance: assets.publishing.service.gov.uk/government/uploads/system/uploads/attachment_data/file/1090195/Relationships_Education_RSE_and_Health_Education.pdf
You could start a petition asking for mental health first aid to be taught in schools.
