Do not cancel HS2 to the north of England
There have been reports that the Government will abandon HS2 to the north of England. We therefore call upon the Government to commit to HS2 to the north of England.
The costs of HS2 is spiralling out of control and we believe that the costs should not be as high as they are. Previous plans of HS2 which would have seen the line go to Leeds, Newcastle and Scotland have been ditched. The current line to Manchester is now under threat. The north should not have to be deprived of vital infrastructure that is always served to the south on a silver platter. The north and Scotland should be given high speed rail.
