Broadcasters must be transparent when platforming secretly funded think tanks.
Think tanks play a significant role within our democracy. They can influence government policy and often appear on the broadcast media presented as experts in their field. Some think tanks are transparent about how they are funded publishing full details online. Others are not open and transparent.
The Institute for Economic Affairs doesn’t reveal its funding sources, raising transparency concerns. Broadcasters must uphold integrity, professionalism and accountability in our democracy. We urge Parliament to modify broadcasting rules, mandating disclosure when secretly funded think tanks are featured in the media.

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:
We can only accept petitions about things the Government or Parliament are directly responsible for.
Decisions about standards for broadcasters are a matter for Ofcom, not the UK Government or Parliament.
