Make the BBC Alba Channel full time
Currently the BBC Alba channel runs from around 16:00 until 00:30. If the Scottish/UK government’s seriously want to recover Scottish Gaelic they need to make the BBC Alba channel full time, this offers Gaelic speakers and Gaelic learners a key resource.
It would also considerably help Gaelic from
going extinct. It would also be good if there was Gaelic and English subtitles on the channel to help leaners.

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:
We can only accept petitions about things the Government or Parliament are directly responsible for.
The BBC is an independent body governed by a Royal Charter. Under the terms of that Charter, the BBC is operationally and editorially independent of government and there is no provision for the Government to intervene in the BBC’s day-to-day operations. This includes decisions about particular television channels.
