Under the governments Network North plan,Willaston train station to be reopened
Willaston train station was closed in 1954. Since then the population had increased massively in the village with many new houses but no improvement in the transport network. Reopening the station, or at least the platforms, would make travel from the village easier.
As part of the government's Network North plan, reopening Willaston station would reduce car traffic and encourage more use of public transport. Investment in the station would be small but have greater savings in the long term.
