Give pensions to those in armed forces who served more than 2 years pre-1988

Petition Details

In 1988, the qualifying period for a deferred armed forces pension was reduced from 5 years to 2 years. Those who served for fewer than 5 years from 1975 - 1988 are not eligible for a pension. Those who served for any length before 1975 are not eligible.

Additional Information

I served 3 years in the Armed Forces from 1979 to 1982. I want the government to change the rules and pay me and many others what I believe we should be receiving.

Someone now serving or who left after 1988, who served more than 2 years, is entitled to a pension. Why should people like me be discriminated against?

This change would, I believe, make the system fair for everyone who served their country.
