Regular SEN training for educational staff

Petition Details

I would like the government to embed regular, consistent Special Educational Needs (SEN) training for all educational staff throughout their careers. I would like this to be a mandatory training and to include mainstream schools too, as SEN learners also attend mainstream schools.

Additional Information

I would like this to come into practice because I as a student teacher have witnessed mainstream teachers struggle with SEN learners and believe they have failed to meet their needs within Education. Often lesson plans do not meet the standard of being inclusive due to mainstream teachers having lack of knowledge and experience regarding SEN. SEN learners are not always able to take part in certain educational activities in mainstream schools due to a teacher's lack of knowledge and experience. SEN is very common and is often misunderstood by teachers.
