Ensure Nursing students are paid for compulsory clinical placements.
To ensure that all Nursing students are financially supported throughout clinical placements.
Student nurses currently have to undertake 2,300 unpaid compulsory placement hours across the 3 year course.
The Nursing Bursary we receive of £5,000 per year, although we do not need to pay this back it is not enough to cover essential costs, such as rent, travel costs to and from placement and food costs.
With student nurses working 37.5 hours a week unpaid, this leaves no spare time for an additional part time job whilst on placement.
