Prohibit listening to music though headphones while in charge of a mechanically propelled vehicle.

Additional Information

"Hearing" is one of the most important senses for road users, particularly those on two wheels.

Listening to music or the radio via headphones is far more dangerous than listening to a radio in a car, especially considering the fact that many modern headphones also cancel out background noise.

There are hundreds of collisions on the roads of this country, many of which are fatal, and many of which are caused by a lapse of concentration, or failure to observe an obvious hazard.

All those who use mechanically propelled vehicles: from pedal cycles to 40' articulated lorries on the public highway should be penalised robustly for knowingly or recklessly reducing their senses and causing them to have less than the maximum concentration at any given time.
