Improve School Snack Quality and Reduce Childhood Obesity
Despite the increase in childhood obesity and government guidelines, schools still permit unhealthy snacks.
We should ensure that schools:
-Comply with School Food Standards
-Notify parents of the prohibition of unhealthy snacks
-Promote non-food gifts for birthdays
The urgency of this matter is underscored by the alarming statistics from the 2020/21 National Child Measurement Programme (NCMP) survey, which reported that 28.7% of reception children were either obese or overweight, and by the end of year 6, childhood obesity rates have been significantly rising, with an increase of 13.5% (NHS, 2022).
As a parent and Nutrition Therapist, I'm deeply concerned about children's health. Please support this petition to reduce childhood obesity.

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:
We could accept a petition calling on the Government to change the school food standards, or to introduce new mandatory food standards for schools, such as a ban on unhealthy snacks.
