Legalise the use of pepper spray and tasers to keep women safe

Petition Details

To encourage the safe guarding of women from domestic violence, sexual abuse and harassment and attacks. However, anyone who requires pepper spray or a taser must be certified to own and use and must enrol on training program to correctly us safely to avoid the abuse of the use of protective means

Additional Information

Sexual abuse / assault and harassment of women is on the rise. UN women UK data found 97% of women disclosed they had been sexually harassed . From 2022 to 2023 over 68,949 number of police recorded rape offences in England and Wales the highest it has become since 2003 (statista 2023). A 2% conviction rate suggests, police and courts are not doing enough to ensure justice is served. Women need to feel safe and supported and need to feel that they can defend themselves if faced with danger.
