Remove the deposit required to stand as an MP
The £500 deposit required to stand as an MP should be abolished as it effectively removes those without the backing of a major party or substantial personal wealth from the democratic process. Instead potential candidates should be required to instead submit a petition of support signed by 500 residents of voting age in their constituency to safeguard against the frivolous and the timewasters and the administrative burden they create.
You can't sign this petition because it is now closed. But you can still comment on it here at Repetition.me!
